Tyler, The Creator & Skepta Lead Wildlands Festival’s Inaugural Lineup
In early June, organisers of Victoria’s Beyond The Valley and Perth’s Origin Fields festivals organised a new collaborative venture, in Wildlands, set to be taking some of the world’s best over to Brisbane Showgrounds on 28th December.
The first act on the lineup to be announced was RÜFÜS DU SOL, and with that first taste, we knew it was going to be a big one, but not this big.
Today, the team behind Wildlands have given us the full lineup for this year’s inaugural festival.
For the first time since 2013, Tyler, The Creator will be returning to Australian shores. He’ll be bringing with him his Billboard #1 critically acclaimed record, IGOR.

Also performing at the festival will be Grammy-winning RnB artist Ella Mai, New York’s finest Lion Babe, the “king of drip” Gunna, EDM hero RL Grime, house and techno pioneer Green Velvet and heaps more.
Aussie favourites What So Not, Mallrat, Lastlings, Dom Dolla and more join the inaugural lineup too.

Hunters & Collectors, The Living End Lead Red Hot Summer Tour 10 Year Anniversary Lineup
The Red Hot Summer Tour, launched by promoter Duane McDonald, began in 2011. The line-up saw three artists on the bill who went on to play six shows throughout Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
Now, the team behind the Red Hot Summer Tour are gearing up to celebrate a decade of live music in 2020. The event has become one of the most sought after events in the Aussie rock calendar, and to celebrate, they’ll be taking a special anniversary tour on the road.
They’ll be headed all around the country from Queensland’s tropical north, all the way to Western Australia, the Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.
It’s a full circle moment for McDonald, where he finally gets to realise his original dream of giving a top quality festival experience to fans across the country.
The lineup for this 10 year anniversary Red Hot Summer Tour sees an all-star Australian lineup teed up for the massive four month series.
They’re reuniting ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Hunters & Collectors for the tour, and in support, they’ve got James Reyne, The Living End, The Angels, Baby Animals, Killing Heidi and Boom Crash Opera.
“The past 10 years have gone so fast and we have been so proud to see the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR continue to grow each year,” says McDonald. “The support we have received from audiences has been phenomenal. To everyone who has attended a Red Hot Summer Tour show over the last decade – thank you. You are the reason we do what we do, and will continue to bring you the best quality music experience, every year. We can’t wait to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Red Hot Rock with music fans around the country.”

Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta Clashes With CHVRCHES Over Their Spot On The Deftones Festival Lineup
CVHRCHES frontwoman Lauren Mayberry and Hatebreed‘s Jamey Jasta have come to blows on Twitter over the Scottish electro-pop act’s placement on the upcoming Dia De Los Deftones Festival taking place in San Diego.
The Deftones-curated festival just yesterday announced CHVRCHES as the second-from-the-top billing, beneath Deftones and above Gojira, something that Jamey Jasta took issue with.
He questioned who the band were, saying “Who is churches with a v and why the fuck are they playing over Gojira get tha fuuuuuck outta here have you ever heard The Heaviest Matter In The Universe you’re gonna get embarrassed off the stage lol no offense.”
He followed that up with “God the music industry suckkkkks sometimes.”

— Jamey Jasta (@jameyjasta) July 30, 2019
He continued on saying “Update: googled Churches w/ a v, they gotta be huge they did a song with a guy w/ a Marshmallow mask and people LOOOOOVE IT. Good for them.”
Jasta later added:
“I’m sure they’re lovely people and a popular group, I don’t agree with the line up order, same w/ other festivals, if anyone is butt hurt about my opinion wait until you hear the podcast! Metal needs to be shown more respect. Longer career, legacy, more albums, bill em higher.”

— Jamey Jasta (@jameyjasta) July 30, 2019
As NME pointed out, he also tweeted saying he prefers bands who “play their instruments” to “track acts”, though all three members of CHVRCHES play a range of live instruments live and in their recordings.
Bands that play their instruments > track acts. #Facts
— Jamey Jasta (@jameyjasta) July 30, 2019
Mayberry responded to Jasta’s outburst via Twitter, speaking of the band’s love of metal and praising Deftones for curating a sonically diverse lineup.
“I saw Gojira in Glasgow years ago and have seen Deftones three times so was excited when we got asked to be on the bill,” she replied. “Just because someone plays or listens to “pop music” doesn’t mean they don’t understand or appreciate other things.
“Deftones curated the lineup so I don’t know how that speaks to problems with The Music Industry. I think it’s important and powerful that they promote the idea of a diverse community and try to bridge gaps instead of being guided by limiting, antiquated ideas about genre.”

Oh damnnnnn, just saw this, the Rihanna eye roll?! Cold! It’s cool you like heavy bands, my mistake, when I googled you I saw bunch of crap you got from Chris brown & his fans, now I feel bad

PREMIERE: The Montreals’ ‘Lilac, I Think’ Takes Us Back To 2000’s Indie-Pop
Adelaide’s premier colour-clad indie-pop group, The Montreals, return today with their first single of the year, ‘Lilac, I Think’ which is premiering via Music Feeds today.
In the last year, the quartet have toured with Kingswood, performed at the South Australian leg of Groovin’ The Moo, played a couple of shows around town and in other exciting news, they’ve also been readying their second EP, Horror Movies, following up from their debut Indigo Club in 2016.
‘Lilac, I Think’ is the first taste of what’s to come, and sees the band take a huge step forward in the group’s creative evolution. The navigates through themes of conflict and personal resolution, juxtaposing the darker sonic material with the band’s bright and jovial sound. Taking influence from the highly-memorable indie-pop sounds of the late 2000’s, ‘Lilac, I Think” is the perfect midway between nostalgia and contemporary reinvention.
Of the track, The Montreals said:
“‘Lilac, I Think’ dabbles with issues of intrapersonal and interpersonal conflict, but in a super fun, approachable way. We are all pretty darn good at handling ourselves when things are going well, but how we deal with conflict is really defining. Are you a pacifist? Do you embrace conflict? Do you avoid it entirely? Conflict is a motif that sort of dances through the entire Horror Movies EP.”
The Montreals ‘Lilac, I Think’ Launch Show
Friday, 9th August
Lion Arts Factory, Adelaide

Tickets: Moshtix
