Melbourne artist Kids At Midnight has delivered a dreamy new bop drenched in joyous 80’s synth-pop vibes, dubbed ‘By Your Side’.
Premiering via Music Feeds below ahead of its official release this Friday, the ethereal single was written and produced by the singer — real name Jane Elizabeth Hanley — herself.
“I’ve kind of spent my life daydreaming myself into 80’s movies, where I got to have the perfectly twinkly grand gesture happy ending,” Henley explains.
“I want people to be able to close their eyes and listen to ‘By Your Side’ and be in their own John Hughes 80’s moment. Lyrically it’s about finding the person you never dreamed you would…like really, not just being cute, actually you can’t believe there is person who has put their hand up to deal with all of you. That feeling for me came out as an 80’s influenced sunset ballad. It’s a perfect introduction to the rest of the album.”
