Lana Del Rey has today released the first track, titled ‘LA Who Am I To Love You’, from her forthcoming spoken word audiobook.
The audiobook, titled Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass, has been teased for a while now, first alerting the public to its existence back in early 2019.
This is also only one of two spoken word audiobooks/poetry books/poetry collections/etc. that Del Rey has coming, having announced behind the iron gates – insights from an institution back in May this year. Alongside the announcement of this second collection, she also released spoken word track ‘Patent Leather Do-Over’.
‘LA Who Am I To Love You’ features a musical soundscape provided by Jack Antonoff, who helped Lana produce her wildly acclaimed, GRAMMY nominated album Norman Fucking Rockwell.
2020 hasn’t been a fantastic year for Del Rey’s image to say the very least, after she was berated online for a post that many people felt was racist and unfairly targeting Black women.
Del Rey doubled down on the social media post, saying “fuck off if you don’t like the post.”
In addition, she’s also announced another studio album coming in 2020, Chemtrails Over The Country Club.
